Who Can Enter the Mount of God?

Few books of the Bible have caused more people to stop reading through the Bible than the book of Leviticus. In fact, it seems likely in our present world that Leviticus is read more by those who wish to undermine Christianity than the average Christian. Modern skeptics love to pick isolated verses from Leviticus to make fun of any Christian who claims that God’s law still applies today. Skeptics take commands from Leviticus or other parts of the Pentateuch and argue that since Christians do not obey these laws and then all the moral law is void.

At the same time, Leviticus is a book that most Christians seem to skip over and ignore. Yet, it is only through a good understanding of Leviticus that much of the rest of Scripture is tied together into a whole. God at Mount Sinai, in typological fashion, gave Moses a picture of our condemnation under the law, our atonement, and the holiness that ensues salvation for the child of God. Leviticus then is central to understanding the work of Christ on the cross and the message Scripture has for us from God.
